Bangkok Dangerous

Bangkok Dangerous:

1. Made want to visit Thailand
2. Made me really, really want Thai food

Anyway.  Bangkok Dangerous is a Hollywood remake of a Thai movie of the same name.  Directed by the same people (two brothers, one of whom is named "Oxide").  If I were a director, I don't think I'd want to make the same movie twice...but I might make an exception if the remake were to star Nicolas Cage, who is just awesome. I love him.  I love him so much that he gets his own tag on my blog.

This movie had too many cuts to black.  The ending was a surprise and refreshing.  You don't often see such bleak endings in movies like this.

There was a scene in a really interesting Buddhist temple, but I couldn't find any screen caps and google searches couldn't tell me where it was (weird!)!  Not even asking my Thai friend helped.  If anyone can tell me the name of that temple, pleas do!

I wanna see the original Bangkok Dangerous now.

The Italian Job (2003)

Ah, The Italian Job.  The movie that made mini coopers famous.  I admit that after watching this, mini coopers seem super cool and sleek and easy to park, haha.  I've seen the original 1969 film and I remember the heist part being like a really boring game of red light green light.  This had cooler action and car stunts.  The cast was great and the movie was actually shot really well.  This is one of the better heist films.

True Grit (2010)

Saw the True Grit remake today at the movies with my dad.  It's a good father/daughter movie!   It was really great. The humor was on point.  Jeff Bridges was, as always, wonderful.  A movie to be enjoyed by all, even those who don't normally enjoy westerns.  Now I need to see the original True Grit.  Sadly, I don't know too much about westerns!

One bone to pick: I didn't really like the epilogue...didn't think it added anything to the story.

Oh, and the movie posters are cool, too:
