Speed

I re-watched Speed  for some reasons.  Uh, yeah, what can I even say about this movie?

Apparently nothing.

Anyway, I remember when I was a kid seeing something on Entertainment Tonight or some similar such show about a lady who entered some kind of contest or raffle.  She was homeless, and she could pick between two prizes...a million dollars or the bus from Speed.

GUESS WHAT SHE CHOSE.

Footloose

Footloose isn't as bad as I remembered it.  It does drag as it goes on, though.  It was interesting to see young Sarah Jessica Parker...although at the end where the two dudes beat the other two dudes up, like really hardcore, and the girls are all like YEAH WOO HOO AWESOME...that was pretty terrible.  Like, do people really like seeing other people get the crap beat out of them? ...what?

Although, I must say that a prom with GLITTER RAIN would be awesome.

A lot of shots of feet being, uh, "footloose."  Not sure if they're were just trying to go with the flow on that one or if we had some foot fetish people on this crew.

It was the "special edition" DVD.  lol @ this movie having a "special edition."

Also, this movie is awesome for inspiring this:

9 to 5

I remember watching 9 to 5 when I was a kid and wanted to re-watch it.  Dolly Parton is awesome!  The 9 to 5 song is cool even in spite of the fact that it's annoying when rich famous people sing songs about the working man.  I wish this movie had a more awesome feminist revenge, but I'll settle I guess.  The outfits are a highlight, too.

Also 9-5?? Yeah right, more like 8-7.

Eagle Eye

I randomly caught the end of Eagle Eye in a hotel room and I thought I'd watch the beginning when I happened to see the DVD at the library.  It's your standard conspiracy movie, but with Shia LaBeouf eye candy.  The most exciting part is in the beginning during the chase when they're getting instructions.

For reference...an actual eagle eye:

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

If I had to say, I'd probably declare Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom my favorite Jones movie.  When I think "Indiana Jones", imagery from this movie is what pops into my head.  I finally finished my Indiana Jones rewatch after seeing this today...finally!

I'd forgotten how over the top this movie is.  From being chased by raging water to almost falling off a bridge to sword fights in a couple of minutes...it's pretty ridiculous.  This movie also has a bunch of stupid stereotypes about women and Indian people (that aren't even true or real stereotypes, haha).  Still, though, it's a good adventure.

Also, Indiana Jones wouldn't have been nearly as good with a different background score.

I'd forgotten this opening sequence was even in the movie!

Muriel's Wedding

I've always wondered why movies like Muriel's Wedding aren't on mubi.com.  I really like this film.  I like director PJ Hogan. He also directed My Best Friend's Wedding, another romantic comedy that I enjoyed  for its off beat execution.

An ABBA soudtrack....fat Toni Collette...what's not to love about Muriel's Wedding?  The movie is really enjoyable despite the fact that Muriel and her family of layabouts are all genuinely detestable human beings at the beginning of the story.  I guess seeing them ~grow~ just gives the audience satisfaction.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

"love you" scene

I recently had the urge to re-watch all the Indiana Jones movies because I don't remember them too well.  My boyfriend's roommate happened to have Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD so I caught this one the other day.  I remember the other movies being better than this one!

The Last Emperor

I'd been wanting to re-watch The Last Emperor  for a while now and I picked up when I saw the DVD at the library.  Well, this movie is depressing!  Modern Chinese history is pretty depressing in general.  The score and appearance of Ryuichi Sakamoto (a personal favorite) in the film are a plus.  The film has all the smut to keep people interested like the threesome scene or the breastfeeding scene.
